Bi-Carbonate Soda or “Baking Soda” is a relatively soft abrasive used in all types of applications. It is ideal in situation where you want to remove light coatings without damaging the substrate or when sensitive components are present and can’t be removed from the blasting process. This material can be used to scarify and promote adhesion between coats in multi-coat coating systems. Bi-Carbonate Soda is non-sparking, silica free and water soluble.

Copper Slag is a byproduct of copper production. Its hardened structure, made primarily of Iron Oxide and Silicon Dioxide, makes this abrasive extremely durable and relatively low dusting when compared to other types of slag abrasive. It has superior cutting properties and is an excellent abrasive choice for production environments where slag type abrasives are utilized.
Mohs Hardness: 7.0
Available Grit Sizes: Medium (20-40 Mesh)
Packaging: 100 lb bags
Crushed glass is comprised of 100% post-consumer recycled glass and is an environmentally friendly alternative to slag abrasives. Due to its coloration, the dust produced by crushed glass is somewhat translucent and therefore helps with operator visibility during blasting. It contains less than 0.01% free silica and suitable for both wet and dry blasting systems.
Mohs Hardness: 6.0
Available Grit Sizes: Coarse, Med/Coarse, Medium, and Fine
Packaging: 50 lb bags, Bulk Bags and Bulk Load
This abrasive is produced during the excavation and mining for the mineral Almandine, a semi-precious version of the Garnet gem used in jewelry. Garnet is widely regarded as one of the best abrasives available due to its quick cleaning rate, low dusting ability, potential for reuse* and suitability for both wet and dry blasting applications.
*Reusability is dependent upon the specific conditions present while blasting. These include original material grit size, blasting pressure, nozzle size, substrate hardness and operator etiquette.
Mohs Hardness: 7.0 – 7.5
Available Grit Sizes: 16 Grit, 30 – 60 Grit, 80 Grit
Packaging: 55 lb bags & Bulk Bags
Glass bead is a spherical abrasive suitable for peening applications, deburring on precision machines parts and situations where a uniform or matte finish is desired. The hardened nature of this abrasive makes it an excellent choice for use in blast cabinets or applications that require a rounded, reusable abrasive. Another common use for glass beads is as a reflective additive in road and concrete striping.
Mohs Hardness: 5.5 – 6.0
Available Bead Sizes: 204 (30-40 Mesh), 206 (50-70 Mesh), 207 (60-80 Mesh), 208 (70-100 Mesh), 210 (100 – 170 Mesh) & 213 (170 – 325 Mesh)
Packaging: 50 lb bags
Starblast™ blasting abrasive is comprised of various sized Staurolite sands that are slightly rounded to help prevent embedment. This material has excellent cutting potential, low dusting characteristics and a certain degree of reusability depending on your blasting conditions. It contains less than 0.1% free silica and conforms to most clean air regulations and MIL-A22262A-SH.
Mohs Hardness: 6.5 – 7.0
Available Mesh Sizes: 70 – 140 Mesh
Packaging: 50 lb bags
Used primarily in shot peening applications, steel shot offers the highest cleaning rate and reusability of any spherical abrasive available. Due to its high density, steel shot transfers more energy to the surface when peening. This increase in transferred power improves your cleaning/peening rate and lowers abrasive consumption – saving you time and money!
Hardness (Rockwell): All Material is 40 – 51 HRC
Available Grit Sizes*: S110, S170, S230, S280, S330, S390, S460, S550, S660 & S780
Packaging: 50 lb bags, 55 Gallon Drums (2,000 lbs)

Walnut shell abrasive is used to blast and polish soft metal, fiberglass, wood, plastic, rubber and stone substrates. It works as a deburring and deflashing product for moldings, castings, and electrical parts. It is suitable for tumbling applications on gun casings, jewelry, ink pens and metal parts. Ideal for any application where blasting will be performed on “delicate” surfaces.
Mohs Hardness: 3.0 – 4.0
Available Grit Sizes: Coarse (12/20 Mesh) & Medium (18/40 Mesh)

Plastic media is widely used in situations where coatings or corrosion would normally be removed from sensitive substrates via dry blasting, chemical strippers or mechanical abrasion. It is environmentally safe, contains no silica, anti-static, precisely graded for consistent cleaning rates and is less destructive on equipment. In low pressure applications, this material is reusable and can be recycled multiple times. Plastic media is available in 3 material types: Melamine, Urea and Acrylic. Each type offers its own finish characteristics and hardness. Urea and Acrylic blends are MIL SPEC approved (conforms to MIL-P-85891A).
Mohs Hardness: 4.0 (Melamine), 3.5 (Urea) & 3.5 (Acrylic)
Available Mesh Sizes: Numerous blends available
